I was wrong.

"You may feel more loved... but my Love for you is perfect; therefore it is not subject to variation. What does vary is your awareness of My loving Presence." Jesus Calling

This really struck me when I read it, because it seems this holiday season that God has been loving us extra. Yeah, extra. I suppose that at first glance when I talk about how He has lavished His attention and loving presence on us it seems like a good thing. But in fact, I think it is a lie. His love just doesn't change.

"I trust in your unfailing love." Psalm 13:5 NLT

Life can be good. Life can be bad. It can be hard. It can be easy. But HE. He is always the same.

"The eternal God is your refuge, and His everlasting arms are under you." Deuteronomy 33:27 NLT

I tried to imagine ahead of time what these past two months would be like. Thanksgiving and Christmas - away from home. Away from all things familiar. Away from those we love. I never could figure it out though. I never could wrap my brain around it. And here is the funny thing. I still can't. God totally blew our attempt at expectations out of the water. And so I caught myself. Caught myself thinking He was loving us more. I was wrong.

His perfect love never changes.

So, if you have heard or read anything of recent from me about how God lavished us in His love this season.. I was wrong. He always lavishly loves us. What has happened in our lives in the past two months is this:

He opened our eyes, ears, hearts and minds to what He has always been up to. Lavishly loving us.

"All the while, I am aching to hold you in My everlasting arms, to enfold you in My love.... ask for receptivity to My unfailing love." Jesus Calling
