filtered: not strong enough

Whelp, here it is. My first blog post in my journey of first missionary term-itis.

This is raw stuff, y'all...

What I feel:
Sara, you are not strong enough.
Not strong enough to make new friends.
Not strong enough to watch your loved ones hurt.
Not strong enough to be separated from those you love.
Not strong enough to keep fighting through this first term.

My filtered reality:
Sara, He is strong enough. God formed the universe, and He keeps His promises:
"This message is from the Lord, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit." Zechariah 12:1 NLT
He is your friend when you feel friendless.
"So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God." Romans 5:11 NLT
He comforts those you cannot.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed." Psalm 34:18 NLT
He comforts you, Sara, and you are not alone.
"So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you." Deuteronomy 31:6 NLT
He fights for you.
"The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." Exodus 14:14 NLT

"Sometimes we look at our need or our overwhleming circumstances and feel defeated. However, our promise-keeping God says, 'Nothing is too hard for Me.' (Jeremiah 32:27)" - James MacDonald

  1. Sara, your post brings to mind a song our choir has sung: "Be strong and take courage. Hold on to what is sure. Your Lord will never leave you. And his plan for you is sure. So be strong.". Love you.
