I'm just along for the ride.
Prepare yourselves for it.
Yup, let the partnership posts begin. This missionary is on furlough and it's all up in my face. So it is what I write about. BAM!
Yesterday, I finally had enough solitude to begin to catch up on correspondence. Yes, I am one of those who can't think in a straight line when anyone else is breathing in the room. Or down the hall. Or outside. #easilydistracted The kids were in school and Marty was doing his PDing thing face to face. (He's good like that.) So, that gave me the opportunity to hit the books. Oh, the joys of budgets, spreadsheets and mass communication...
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in Papua New Guinea (cause that was like a bazillion years ago) I knew we needed to take a peek at what was really up with our partnership team. But I didn't cause time wouldn't permit and cause yeah, life was too complicated for dealing with all that. (And cause letters cost K8 to send each!) But, now that life has settled, stamps are affordable, and we are into a consistent rhythm it (ministry partnership reality) is in my face.
We have to build our team up to make it back home.
By the way, did you read our newsletter? (Shameless linkage. Ha ha!)
But, I'm totally getting off track. So I found myself alone with a database full of names. Names of people that span the globe, mind you. Who have given and given and given. And prayed and prayed and prayed. And encouraged. Seriously encouraged us. I took about four hours (the span of time I have each day between the drives to and from schools for drop off and pick up - gotta love this part of being in America - NOT! ha ha). Yes, for four hours it was me, iTunes, my database, a Liberty pen (gotta represent!), PNG paraphernalia that fits inside an envelope, stuff with my face on it (thanks, Leah for this brilliant way to describe our prayer cards), envelopes, cards, my Bible, stamps and nearly an entire pot of coffee. I began to walk my way through a list with 94 names. 94 people or families or churches who regularly give and pray and encourage us. 94 people who have been called out by God to walk alongside us on this wild journey.
How awesome is that? Seriously how awesome is THAT?
What is even more awesome is while I wrote out very brief glimpses of our gratitude to these amazing people, God did a number on my heart and reminded me again of the true perspective I must keep during this time of ministry partnership building... it's His Work. He calls upon people as He pleases. Where He deems. It's His show and He is running it.
I'm just along for the ride.
