brag on this and this only.
"God's Message:
"Don't let the wise brag of their wisdom.
Don't let heroes brag of their exploits.
Don't let the rich brag of their riches.
~~If you brag, brag of this and this only:
That you understand and know me.~~
I'm God, and I act in loyal love.
I do what's right and set things right and fair,
and delight in those who do the same things.
These are my trademarks."
God's Decree."
Jeremiah 9:23-24 The Message
This week has brought a lot of attention to our ministry. A local newspaper printed a full page article about our family, and since then we have also be invited to participate in a live interview next week on a local talk radio program. I thought I would just be super excited about all of this. Oh, and I am don't get me wrong!! BUT there is another very strong emotion rearing up neck-in-neck beside that excitement.
I am not sure exactly how I can name what I am feeling either. I feel strangely uncomfortable with the attention. It's like a weird sense of awkwardness... is that an emotion? But I know exactly where it comes from. It comes from the fact that this ministry of Bible translation that we are a part of is NOT about our family. Throughout the entire time that we have been building our partnership team I have remained completely humbled by the Lord's hand in each and every step of the journey. But now all the sudden too much attention has been placed on us. I so don't want anyone to see us. I want only for everyone who hears about us to see Him, Jesus, at work in our lives.
So, if you do read anything about the public attention that our family is receiving please keep this at the forefront of your mind. This is God's work. His plan. His purpose. His provision. Please look past who we are and what we are doing and see only God's Hand on our family.
Could you also please pray that others will see through what the Lord is doing in building our partnership team... that they can have the same part in our work for Him as we do? We are one equal playing fields with each person that prays and gives. We cannot go unless His hand is on their hearts to send us.
But let me say this again though... we are excited about how the Lord is using this article for His glory. Uber excited to be exact!! But only because of HIM. Our heart's desire and passion is that all people (in SC, Papua New Guinea, everywhere in between and beyond!!) will hear who Jesus is, personally come to know Him and brag of this and this only:
"That you understand and know me."
