full circle with the Smiths

What can I say about today?

Today God brought life full circle again... I want to forever stash away the memories... and so I blog. :o)

Today Marty and I shared at First Wesleyan Church in Gastonia, where Pastor Tim Smith and his wife Mary have been for 10 years... there was nothing to spectacular about what we said, or how we presented our calling. From the outside everything might have seemed pretty regular. Nothing too grand, but that is not what really happened in my heart.

Pastor Tim and his beautiful bride (whom I just can't not call "Aunt" Mary) have been a part of my life for 25 years. The church I attended when I was in grade school in Waxhaw was the first place I met Pastor Tim. Pastor Tim has dedicated two of our daughters, and baptized Marty after he accepted Christ. He married my sister and her husband, my brother and his wife, and buried my grandparents. Pastor Tim has prayed for my family every week since before Marty and I were married... He has and continues to be a huge part of our lives. A mentor. A leader. A friend. And now our partner in Bible translation.

We saw Pastor Tim and Aunt Mary at the Wesleyan District conference a few weeks ago and he invited Marty and I to share in his Sunday school class today.... what an honor it was.

We shared Sunday afternoon dinner in their home, and Aunt Mary once again out did herself with a delicious spread of food (just like I remember from grade school and high school). The most special part of the day had to be when she and I briefly discussed our past as a family and where God has taken us... and what futures the girls now share in the mix as well.

God is good. Today was special. My heart is full.
