this place called #8

Memories from #8 Lynwood Circle:

Moving in. Taylor was three and Tia was almost two. Their little toddler beds looked swallowed by the large mauve walls and tan carpet. They insisted on sharing a room.

Tia's second birthday party. She sat on top of the kitchen table and hid her face with her hands while everyone tried to get her to open her gifts.

The swing set. Watching Taylor and Tia slide into huge piles of leaves.

Tia calling herself "me". When anyone would ask her name - this was her response.

Christmases with Nana and Papa. They gave us their beautiful home made gifts. :o) Now they are with Jesus.

Dylan Christopher Henry Driggers aka Dude and Baloop. April 26, 1999. I was an aunt!

The ice storm. It knocked out power for three days. We closed the pocket doors and lived in den. We slid down the drive way on the pink toy box lid. :o)

Walking the back yard as my labor started with Miriam. Yes. I was barefoot and pregnant. LOL.

Bringing home Miriam from the hospital (in that huge gray Astro Van!). Taylor, Tia, and Oma had made a "welcome home" sign with computer paper and it was on the outside of the house.

Moving Miriam's crib. We thought Taylor would have her own room, but Tia and her were unwilling to separate.

Grandma Canty holding Miriam. Steve, JuJu, Grandma Driggers, and MawMaw Canty visited Miriam. We sat in the den (where the carpet was that deep green). Now MawMaw Canty is in heaven with Jesus.

The York Phillies. Taylor playing t-ball with the Rec Center. Every single kid on the opposing team would field each ball.

Taylor, Tia and Miriam watching for Daddy's big truck on his way home from work. That green monster could be heard from around the corner!

Taylor's first day at Jefferson. Miss Latham's lady bugs.

Tia's first day with Miss Latham's ladybugs exactly a year later.

Calling 911 after locking Miriam in the running car in her car seat in the drive way. Ah. Best impression ever by York Fire Dept. I still see that fella and wanna thank him for saving my baby.

Miriam playing inside the kitchen cupboards.

Remodeling after huge water damage in the den. Watching Marty smash the half brick wall was fun. We went from tan to red paint in the den, green to blue in kitchen, and green to lighter blue in living space (now it's chocolate brown).

Marty receiving his GED and returning to school. One day he just came home and said he was gonna work on cars. Miriam was a little thing when he first started at Tech and then Honda Cars of Rock Hill.

Praying the prayer of salvation with Taylor and Tia at the kitchen table.

Snow storm with 17 inches. Miriam was terrified of the snow and screamed when she thought she would sink into it without being able to stand.

Harley. My favorite memory with Harley is turning around to see him and Miriam locked into the crate together. She was reading him a book... what a trooper he was.

Praying with Miriam to accept Jesus into her heart (also in the kitchen).

Outback Steakhouse. #4120. Friendship with my Mo.  Friendship with my Debbie.

Deciding our family wasn't complete. Planned for a baby. Waited three months and told my mom at her Christmas concert at church from the balcony that her number four grand was on the way.

Jade. (If you know her you know why I just don't need to write any more than her name.)

Taking my redhead to school. Jade was ten days old and a perfect remedy for my broken heart.

Jason and Angela's life together began. The wedding was in York on Angela's birthday and Valentines. It was so cold... and a beautiful day. Taylor and Tia were perfect flower girls.

MatMat. Madison Nicole Owens made me an aunt again.

Jade's sickness... heartache and worry. Driving home from Outback in tears when I heard she couldn't even stand.

Marty's first and second knee surgery.

Tinkerbell. My sweet love bucket.

God's healing on Jade's body. He is so good to us.

Jade riding her tricycle through the house like a wild thing. Right over the step into the den without even a flinch.

York Tech and one credit short of two associate's degrees. Never satisfied with what school could offer. Just wanted to be a momma.

Marty fell at Honda. God works in mysterious ways to get our attention.

Praying the prayer of salvation with our last baby. This time in the living room.

Admitting our calling by God to missions. Signing up with Wycliffe - May 2010.

My blog.

And here we are together now. So many memories for this little place we have called home. Until almost two years ago when we answered God's calling we thought we would live here forever. Now, the walls are bare and my heart is still full. (Sometimes overflowing into my eyeballs.)

God has carried us much further than this brief list of memories. His grace and mercy and love blow my mind. I can look back and see how He has orchestrated moment after moment. He has proven Himself to me over and over again. I believe Him.

This is my faith: knowing He is trustworthy.

He has prepared me for what is next. He will give me new memories in a new place we can call home... and allow me to take a heart full of this place called #8 Lynwood Circle with me there.

  1. Those are beautiful memories! I can only imagine how your're feeling right now. Praying that the last few days you have in your house are special ones. Looking forward to hearing about new memories being made in your PNG home. I imagine the new memories will include a few more bugs and no snow.:0)
