adapting with grace
Right now I feel the strong need to put it into writing how utterly amazing my kids are.
I have an almost 16 year old daughter who is content with her circumstances. She does not complain. It just doesn't happen. Those circumstances being: no social interaction, no sports, sharing a room with three younger sisters, carrying a ridiculously heavy curriculum load (and relentlessly striving for the best possible grade EVERY SINGLE DAY), no cell phone, and an everyday shrinking wardrobe... and yet she is up each day pressing on, reading her Bible, and openly witnessing to everyone that surrounds her a sweet and content servant heart.
I have a 14 year old daughter who is content with her circumstances. She doesn't complain... instead she also shares a room with her sisters, has all the same social restrictions, the exact same wardrobe as her older sister, and yet will play for hours and hours and hours on end with her two younger sisters graciously. My heart is swollen in my chest... that sweet baby has entertained herself for the past four hours with legos.
Each one of my girls has sacrificed so much. They have all cried when things change. Asked questions about what will come... all the normal stuff, but yet they trust me. The keep moving forward. They have never harbored an ounce of ill will towards me. No rebellion. No anger... just sweet compliance.
Nothing will make you more humble than your children. God shows such an amazing ability to adapt through their patience. While my heart wants to see their circumstances change I am so grateful that God is working in such real ways in their lives. They are such a beautiful example to me of how I can also adapt with grace.
