May 21, 2011 and still here :))
I must say something in a post about the supposed end of the world! May 21, 2011at 6 pm EST has been predicted by some old geezer to be the exact moment of the rapture. So it is predicted to occur in less than two hours! Wow... I am sure that everyone who reads my blog has figured out that I think that this is a bunch of mularky. (That is a fun word to say. Go ahead. Read it again. Mularky.. Made you grin, didn't I?!)
If I was going to be raptured in T minus 2 hours... I must say that I am going out with a bang though. I am all dolled up from a baby shower this afternoon, and my house is spotless and laundry is complete for the open house we are having tomorrow afternoon. :)
But, anyhow. The Scriptures are the ultimate authority on this (and everything else) and they are very clear that no one except the Father will know when Jesus returns (or when His followers are carried into eternity). Matthew 24:36 says - "about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, not the Son, but only the Father."
Cut and dry. This old fella who has predicted the rapture for today is a kook. I know the signs of the end times and that they are and have been occurring all over the place. Earthquakes. War. Talk of war. But it seems to me that these types of things have been happening for a long while. The Bible also says that time for us on earth is not the same time for God is heaven. 2 Peter 3:8 says "A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day."
That seems confusing, huh? I interpret this Scripture to mean that God isn't limited by our sense of time. He is eternal. He is infinite... and that alone seems more than my little brain can grasp.
So, instead of trying to figure out the exact time I would rather focus on what God promises that moment will be like... I love Revelation. It's like my favorite quote from Sir Winston Churchill:
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
I like to look at what is promised for AFTER His glorious return rather than before. It must be that little sliver of optimist that I am holding onto. LOL Revelation 7: 9-12:
'After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a mighty shout, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne
and from the Lamb!”
And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God. They sang,
“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom
and thanksgiving and honor
and power and strength belong to our God
forever and ever! Amen.” '
2 Peter 3:15 reminds me of God's character (which I think is a huge part of the picture).
"And remember, the Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved."
People all over the world - more than 350 million - are still waiting to have God's promises in their language. Until they do they will not be able to truly understand who God is and how they must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to receive salvation. Remember people from every nation, tribe, people, and language will be represented in heaven when Christ returns.
So. Mind you if I am raptured tonight I leave this post as proof for those still left around this place to tell me I was wrong, but if not... I will keep at it. Pushing hard towards making sure that my simple life will impact those that are still waiting for the Bible in their heart language, and praising Him that He is patient enough to allow us a place in fulfilling His purpose. :)
