stretched
"A saint’s life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the saint cannot see, but our Lord continues to stretch and strain, and every once in a while the saint says, “I can’t take any more.” Yet God pays no attention; He goes on stretching until His purpose is in sight, and then He lets the arrow fly. Entrust yourself to God’s hands." - Oswald Chambers
Sticking it out. That is what we are doing. We know that our final destination is heaven (hopefully we will detour through Papua New Guinea between here and there). Eternity in the presence of the only true and holy God. Our final destination is about true worship. Uninterrupted peace and praise in a perfect place with no pain, sickness, war, or death... yeah that is what this life is all about.
Our partnership development is centered around this goal... with the need to take as many with us as possible. That is why we are serving God through missions.
The stretching is very evident though. Marty and I have both told each other so many times... this has got to end. Something has to get better. We can't take this anymore. But here we are still taking it as it comes and still moving towards future glory.
I love the part of this quote that says, "He goes on stretching until His purpose is in sight, and the He lets the arrow fly." This is what we are experiencing now. He is in control. He has taken aim. He knows when to ease up and when to pull tighter. He knows how high to arch us, and when to pull us a bit lower for that perfect shot. Our lives remain in His hands purposing for His will.
We are stretched, and not certain when things will be set lose. But we know who is in control, and we trust Him.
