loving the Word

How can you develop a love for a deeper understanding of the Scripture?

I read this today and couldn't get the question from my mind...

This has been a very personal exploration for me as well... God called me into the mission field years ago, but here I am many years later just responding to what God has laid on my heart. Why did it take me so long? How could I ignore His calling? So please understand that this is not a personal attack against anyone, but instead an outpouring of my heart & a challenge to whoever may be reading.

What do the Scriptures mean to me?
What impact have they had on my life?
Is the Bible enough?

The answers to these questions make my heart race. The inspire a passion and a burning in my heart that is like no other... Because:

God's Word defines my life.

He tells me who I am: Fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). A child of God (Galatians 3:26).

The Bible tells me who He is: Alpha and Omega; Beginning and the end (Revelation 1:8). Creator and sustainer -  "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together" (Col 1:17).

The Bible tells me the truths of life... "To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are His." Job 12:13

The Scriptures give me value - "He chose to give birth to us by giving us His true word. And we, out of all creation, became His prized possession." James 1:18

The Bible is the key to an intimate relationship with Jesus... and He is the only way to receive salvation. Jesus said, "no one comes to the Father except by ME" (John 14:6).

I was especially challenged today by Jude 23 "save others by snatching them from the fire"... my life has been changed by the impact of the Word. Enough that I will change everything. everything. everything to give that same opportunity to those who don't know. The time is now... SNATCH them!

I hope I have challenged you. Dig deep into the Word... He will never disappoint.

"So is my Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11
